’Tis the season to shop ’til’ you drop, right? Wait … when is it not? While not all relationships focus on material goods, many do. November and December are the prime shopping months in the United States, but many shopping centers just don’t make the cut. There are more than 200 malls spanning the 50 states, but these four deserve your holiday attention.
King of Prussia, or “KOP” as the locals call it, is the largest shopping mall in the United States. Yeah, yeah, you thought The Mall of America was “the one,” but that’s a common misconception. We’ll get to “MOA” later.
King of Prussia is anchored by luxury retailers like Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus, but the influx of attainable and luxury boutiques are what make the KOP experience. Shoppers can peruse retailers as fine as Hermes and as accessible as Forever 21. Need a midday break? KOP offers seventeen sit-down restaurants and more than fifty order-to-go selections. Don’t wait to visit this Philadelphia suburb—it’s worth the 30-minute drive from the city center!
Many may be thinking, “An outlet mall? Yeah, right!” but think twice before you deny yourself discounts at exclusive retailers like Chloe, Burberry, Reed Krakoff, and Gucci. If you’re not interested in designer fashions, this may not be worth the trip, but let’s be real—who isn’t interested in high-end clothing and accessories at deep discount? Woodbury is also an excellent locale to pick up holiday gifts from retailers like Longchamp, L’Occitane, and Toys Я Us. Check out Woodbury next time you’re near New York City.
We’ve already established that, contrary to popular belief, The Mall of America is not the largest mall in America. However, it is still frickin’ huge and makes for an excellent shopping destination for families and groups touring the Midwest. The Mall of America may be the only facility anywhere to boast a theme park, aquarium, and flight simulation center in conjunction with traditional retailers like Coach, Nordstrom, and H&M. Should you find yourself near Minneapolis, don’t deny yourself the experience.
South Coast Plaza is the largest shopping center anywhere on the West Coast. Situated in central Orange County, this mall features many luxury retailers, but also boasts many off-site outlets like Nordstrom Rack and DSW. Enjoy the best of both shopping worlds, but be sure to make an excursion to nearby Laguna Beach for a romantic evening with your partner in shopping!
