Where a Sugar Baby Should Spend Spring Break

image

March has arrived, which means there’s one thing on the minds of college students everywhere: Spring Break! That’s right—it’s the time of year when beach resorts get overcrowded with party-hearty coeds, wet t-shirt contests and MTV finds a sunny spot to broadcast revelry instead of reality.

And there’s no doubt that undergrads are busy planning their vacations—deciding where to go, finding the perfect bikini and finishing that last paper before saying sayonara to campus! But if you’re a Sugar Baby, you probably aren’t rushing to a cheap beach destination to compete in that aforementioned wet t-shirt contest. You seek first class accommodations and 5-star dining!

To celebrate the annual wet-and-wild occasion, we’re offering a list of luxury locales to consider instead of the usual Spring Break suspects. Read on for where to lay back, get a tan and forget about Business 101 for a week.

Going to Fort Lauderdale Beach? Try Miami Beach instead.

Yes, it’s true that Fort Lauderdale Beach consistently makes the Top 10 Spring Break destinations lists we see released every March. Thousands of university students flee to the Florida city each year to play pool at Blondie’s, knock back kamikaze shots at Rock Bar and have some playful fun on the stripper pole at famed dive bar Elbo Room.

We surveyed SeekingArrangement members to find out where undergrad Sugar Babies will be vacationing during Spring Break.

But if you’re sold on the Sunshine State, we highly recommend traveling to Miami Beach instead. Coincidentally, 22 percent of Sugar Babies surveyed in our Spring Break poll said they were going to the South Florida city this year. If you find yourself Miami-bound, we suggest staying at the beautiful beachside Loews, dine on Cantonese cuisine at Hakkasan inside the Fontainebleau and book some jet skis for an excursion in between catching that perfect Miami tan.

Vacationing in Southern California? L.A. is the answer.

If you’re SoCal-bound, nothing beats the City of Angels—where 17.6% of SBs said they were vacationing this year in our Spring Break survey.

Stay at the celebrity favorite Chateau Marmont, fulfill your Great Gatsby dining dreams at the 1920s-themed Pig ‘N Whistle and get some much-needed retail therapy on Rodeo Drive or the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica. Oh, and beach time in Malibu is a must, as is a hike around Runyon Canyon—that’s where you’ll find the best people watching and the occasional celeb sighting.

Cancun-bound? We suggest Punta Cana instead.

The Mexican resort town is always top-of-mind for Spring Breakers, and 7.9 percent of SBs said they were going, according to our Spring Break survey. But if you’re looking for a tropical destination outside the U.S., try heading further south to the exotic Dominican Republic. Punta Cana has everything you could dream of from a luxury Spring Break destination. Stay at the five-star Excellence Punta Cana, an adults-only, all-inclusive resort on the Atlantic coast. You’ll dine fabulously and have all the mai tais you can handle—plus views of pristine beaches with beautiful blue waters.

Partying in Puerto Peñasco? Cabo is calling you.

The Sonoran city, often referred to as Rocky Point, is extremely popular among students studying at Southwestern universities—we see you, No. 1 Sugar Baby University, Arizona State! But we suggest skipping the wet and wild shenanigans and instead opting for beautiful and serene Cabo San Lucas. Stay at the breathtaking Montage Los Cabos, get an adrenaline rush while parasailing over the crystal blue waters and find inner peace during a spa day at Paz Spa at Cabo Azul.

Want to ditch the beach? Book that flight to New York City.

Sure, catching a tan, swimming with dolphins and sipping tropical cocktails with freshly pressed fruit juices is one way to celebrate Spring Break. But if you’re looking for luxury for your time away from campus, the Big Apple is the way to go—and don’t skimp on anything! Stay at historic-meets-modern Palace Hotel, take in culinary delights at Eric Ripert’s famed Le Bernardin and enjoy a spa treatment at Shibui. You’ll be in good company—9.8 percent of SBs said they had chosen the bustling metropolis as their Spring Break destination of choice.

In addition to asking Sugar Babies where they were headed for Spring Break, we also asked them how their Sugar Daddy fit into their plans.
